The last week I’ve spent a fortune on shoes. New bike shoes, running shoes and casual sneakers have put a big hole in my post-Christmas budget.
But I guess it’s money well spent. Foot doctors make a fortune out of people who neglect their feet. By saving a few bucks now on cheapo footware you may be risking big problems later on.
I heard a cranky old Army Warrant Officer interviewed on the radio late last year. He said that kids joining the army have so many foot problms because from they day they are born they are clad in soft running shoes rather than bare feet or hard leather soled shoes.
I suspect he’s right. When I was a kid I seldom wore shoes out of school and those shoes had hard leather soles. I never had foot problems when I joined the Navy at the tender age of 15.
