Sometimes it’s difficult not to get involved in other people’s lives. A mate of mine in Adelaide is looking to go into Alcohol Rehab. He’s not a life-long friend, but I do care about him.
He’s 55 years old and starts drinking at about 10 AM each day. He starts with a few ales and then progresses to wine. I guess he is now consuming about 10 times the recommended limit.
Unemploymnent can do strange things to people’s self-esteem. It all started about 18 months ago when he lost his job in the railways. He got depressed and started drinking to fill in the day while watching TV. I feel really sorry for him, he’s lost his enthusiasm for life and personal health.
